What inspired you to join Bernstein?
Bernstein is a specialist in wealth management. Throughout my career, I have made it a point to work for specialty organizations that are dedicated to their craft. My first niche employer was a collector car auction house, followed by a specialty insurance company where I insured eight- and nine-figure car collections. These experiences are what taught me the value of being singularly focused in your work, which is exactly what attracted me to Bernstein. Bernstein is innovative in so many ways, from its organizational structure to the industry-renowned investments and planning it offers clients. Bernstein sets itself apart amongst its peers through the breadth and depth of its wealth management capabilities.
Tell me about the types of clients you work with.
My practice largely comprises two types of clients: business owners and global families. I am in the sixth generation of a family business, and I know firsthand the work and dedication that goes into building a company. I absolutely love working with my clients and learning about their businesses, as well as helping them maneuver the various cycles of ownership and eventual exit.
For global families, Bernstein is distinctly situated to help international clients with complex, cross-border issues. Having personally lived on four continents, I can understand the intimidating nature of navigating foreign financial markets. I guide global families in implementing various strategies to efficiently manage their investments around the world.
What passions do you pursue outside of work?
Having been born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula, spending time outside in the forest and in the mountains has been a normal part of my life since a young age. Trail running is my usual method of exploring the Pacific Northwest, but I also enjoy cross country skiing and hiking. When I'm unable to break away from the city, I enjoy playing competitive tennis in leagues and tournaments around the area. Most importantly, I love planning outside adventures with my wife and son and exploring the many wonders of Washington.
